Learning Outcome 1
Concepts of health
Answer Q1 on your own, and
then discuss the following questions in small groups and note your answers.
Your tutor will provide a flipchart where you should try to summarise the main
points of your discussion, to feedback to the rest of the class.
Q1 How
healthy do you feel today, on a scale of 1 to 10? Explain the factors you took
into consideration when giving your answer.
Q2 How
would you define ‘being healthy’? How does this differ, in your view, from
‘being unhealthy’? Is this the same as ‘being ill/not being ill’? If not, how
do the concepts differ?
Q3 Considering
your answer to Q1, discuss how we can attempt to measure ‘health’, and how
effective these measure are.
Q4 Who is
responsible for your health?
Q5 In what
ways do you feel women’s health differs from men’s health?
Q6 Do you
feel your concept of health differs from that of your parents, grandparents or
children, if you have any? In what way?
